The Taykwa Tagamou people are Mushkegowuk Cree, the people of the muskeg, and have lived with and on the lands in what is now known as Ontario for time immemorial. This time has taught our people to respect the land that provided our community with all it needed for millennia. There is a sacred attachment to the land and the resources in it, and there is a duty to care for this land as it continues to care and provide for its inhabitants.

Our people have a long history, far beyond the history of Canada, and it is tied to the land and the stories passed from one generation to the next.
